Waste Heat Boilers

Waste Heat Boilers

Waste Heat Boiler options

Waste heat boilers utilise the heat in flue gases from combustion processes or hot waste air flows from industrial processes to generate hot water or saturated steam.  Using a waste heat boiler in combination with gas engines or turbines increases the overall efficiency of the system and reduces the operation cost.

There are two waste heat boiler options:

What are the benefits?

The benefits of waste heat boilers are numerous. From a sustainability perspective, a waste heat boiler does not add emissions to the system and if an extra burner is needed any additional emissions fall way below the levels of a conventional boiler.

They also reduced Fuel Consumption because much of the energy in this boiler comes from waste gas. The amount of fuel necessary to produce steam, therefore is significantly lower than in a combustion boiler, even if an additional burner is needed.

Finally, with the minimal energy and fuel consumption of a waste heat recovery boiler, the operating costs of a waste heat boiler are a lot lower than that of a conventional boiler.

A cost-effective solution

A cost-effective solution and the most optimal one that we propose to our clients is a waste heat boiler (WHB) with a back-up normal boiler as. If the heat recovered is not sufficient to produce all the required heat/steam that the plant requires, the WHB’s output can be boosted by burning additional gas/fuel.  If the WHB is due for maintenance, the back-up boiler ensures continuous supply to the plant.
