A gas thermal oil heater is an industrial heating system that uses natural gas or other gaseous fuels to heat a special heat transfer fluid, commonly called thermal oil. The heater typically consists of a combustion chamber where gas is burned, and a coil or heat exchanger through which the thermal oil flows. The oil transfers heat without undergoing a phase change, allowing operation at temperatures often exceeding 300°C while maintaining low system pressure. This makes gas thermal oil heaters safer and easier to maintain than high-pressure steam systems. Advanced designs include automated temperature controls, insulation to minimize heat loss, and safety devices like pressure relief valves.
